The global landscape in recent times has undergone profound change, driven by accelerated technology developments, rising geopolitical uncertainties, and divergent growth paths between developed, developing and emerging economies. Against this changing backdrop, international arbitration has continued to thrive and develop as a preferred means for resolving cross-border disputes.
As the world emerges from the pandemic, it is an opportune time to take stock of how global developments have impacted the development and practice of international arbitration and how new emerging trends and developments in areas such as technology, sustainability, renewable energy and others will shape the next lap of international arbitration’s growth journey. This panel, comprising The Hon Justice Kannan Ramesh, The Hon Justice Philip Jeyaretnam, Professor Lucy Reed, Professor Lawrence Boo and Darius Khambata SC, will take a hard look at where international arbitration practice is today, the new opportunities and challenges for reform, and explore what the international arbitration community can do to influence, shape and propel international arbitration’s continued relevance in the path ahead.
This is a hybrid event. The symposium will take place on Monday 29 August 2022 from 10:00 – 11:25am SGT at the Shangri-La Singapore Tower Ballroom.
