Jun Hong has a broad commercial practice. He acts for a range of clients in complex international disputes and high-stakes cases. He has represented clients at all levels of the Singapore courts, including as lead counsel in the Singapore Court of Appeal, as well as in international arbitrations.

Jun Hong has experience in an wide range of matters and industries, including arbitration-related litigation, civil fraud claims, technology and licensing disputes, construction claims, and disputes relating to extractive industries.

Jun Hong previously worked at leading international arbitration practices in London and Singapore. Before private practice, he served as a Justices’ Law Clerk, where he clerked for the Chief Justice and Judges of the Singapore Supreme Court. Jun Hong is qualified in Singapore, New York and England & Wales (solicitor). He is a native speaker of Mandarin.  

SELECTED CASES

  • Represented a company and its sole shareholder in proceedings brought by a state entity. Successfully acted as lead counsel in the appeal. CA/CA 44/2023: HN Singapore Pte Ltd v Government of the City of Buenos Aires.
  • Represented network service providers in defending an application to set aside an arbitral award (led by Ng Jern-Fei KC). Sacofa Sdn Bhd v Super Sea Cable Networks Pte Ltd & Anor [2024] SGHC 54.
  • Represented a state-owned oil and gas company in defending an application to set aside an arbitral award (led by Ng Jern-Fei KC). HC/OA 292/2023: DAB v DAC.
  • Represented a state-owned oil and gas company in an ICC arbitration concerning claims arising under a production sharing contract, with over $300 million in dispute.
  • Represented a state-owned oil and gas company in ICC and UNCITRAL arbitrations concerning claims arising under multiple production sharing contracts and bilateral investment treaties, with over $2.5 billion in dispute.
  • Represented a large technology company in respect of claims arising under investment and technology licensing agreements.
  • Represented an electric services company in a SIAC arbitration involving the installation of a tunnel ventilation system.
  • Represented a global sports and entertainment media company in a SIAC arbitration involving the licensing of media rights.
