Joshua has a broad disputes practice which spans the entire spectrum of dispute resolution proceedings. He acts for diverse clients, ranging from state-owned entities and multinational corporations to professional practices and lay individuals. These matters cover sectors such as the energy, automotive, commodities, hospitality, insurance, and financial technology sectors.

In addition to extensive trial and appellate experience before the Singapore Courts, Joshua has appeared before a wide array of international arbitration tribunals. His expertise lies in complex commercial disputes; professional liability disputes; joint venture and shareholder disputes; arbitration-adjacent proceedings; as well as contentious employment and corporate governance matters.

Joshua is recognised in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific (International Arbitration), where he has been described as “a star in his generation”, “super smart”, and “a guy [you] should have on your side”. Clients have noted him to “work tirelessly”, with mention made of his “effective dispute resolution experience” and “dispute management and client management abilities”.

Joshua has contributed to Singapore Civil Procedure and Charting New Waters: The Singapore International Commercial Court After 10 Years. He also co-authored the Dispute Resolution module on Litigation in Lexis Practical Guidance. In 2021, he was appointed by the Supreme Court of Singapore to assist the Court of Appeal as young amicus curiae with the determination of sentence in a criminal case.

Prior to joining Chambers, Joshua worked at one of Singapore’s largest law firms. He also spent time at Essex Court Chambers in London, where he had the opportunity as the winner of the 2018 Essex Court Chambers-Singapore Academy of Law International Mooting Competition to learn from King’s Counsel working on high-stakes litigation and arbitration. During university, Joshua was also the Best Oralist (Preliminary Rounds) in the 2016 international rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.

Outside of the law, Joshua enjoys scale modelling and taking unflattering pictures of his Shetland Sheepdog, Rey. Like several members of Chambers, Joshua is a long-suffering childhood fan of Arsenal FC.

• Acted for an Asian state-owned oil and gas company in an SIAC Arbitration against a joint venture comprising several multi-national oil majors for a claim for over US$110 million arising out of the transfer of operatorship of an oil and gas field.
• Acted for a state-owned engineering company in ICC arbitration-adjacent court proceedings in the Singapore High Court against a defence and security contractor in respect of claims amounting to over US$40 million relating to an infrastructure project.
• Acted for a global automotive manufacturer in a multi-fora dispute, comprising two ICC Arbitrations and an SIAC Arbitration, and numerous Emergency Arbitration proceedings in connection thereto, against an automotive lighting producer in respect of claims amounting to over US$48 million, relating to the management of a joint venture company.
• Acted for a Singapore compounding pharmacy in Singapore High Court and Court of Appeal proceedings for claims relating to breach of confidence, with the latter proceedings culminating in a landmark Court of Appeal decision in Lim Suk Ling Priscilla v Amber Compounding Pharmacy Pte Ltd [2020] 2 SLR 912 in respect of the Riddick undertaking.
• Acted for a prominent oil and gas trading company in a multi-fora dispute, comprising two SIAC Arbitrations and related Singapore High Court and Court of Appeal proceedings, against an asset management company in respect of claims arising out of the sale of oil and gas in a Southeast Asian country.
• Acted for a global hotel & hospitality company in an SIAC Arbitration against a Thai hotel owner relating to the termination of a hotel management agreement for a property in Thailand.
• Acted for a leading fine art logistics company in successfully defending claims brought in the Singapore High Court, arising out of alleged damage to an art sculpture made by a renowned British sculptor: see Pierre Andre Jacques Lorinet v Helu-Trans (S) Pte Ltd [2025] SGHC 66.
• Acted for a multi-national commodity trading and mining company in an SIAC Arbitration against a Malaysian engineering and construction company, in respect of claims relating to the purchase of commodities in a prominent Asian market.
• Acted for a prominent digital asset and financial technology company in an SIAC Expedited Arbitration against an Australian financial services company in respect of claims relating to the purchase of cryptocurrency.

• Acted for a major multinational commodity trading and mining company in an SIAC Arbitration against a Vietnamese transport, construction, and infrastructure company in respect of a coal supply dispute.

• Acted for a global asset management company as first chair in a successful application before the Singapore High Court to strike out a suit commenced by a former senior executive, in respect of claims for wrongful termination.

• Acted for an American technology and engineering company in successfully enforcing a non-compete clause against a former employee who had joined the employ of a market competitor, without the need for commencing proceedings.

• Acted for a prominent technology company in defending claims brought against it before the Singapore High Court by its former chief technology officer.

• Advised an international education institution on its legal obligations and investigations in connection with various instances of alleged employee misconduct.

• Advised various multinational corporations on their respective employment obligations as Singapore-based employers, including assisting with the review and drafting of employment contracts and internal employment policies. 

• Acted for several law firms in defending various claims of professional negligence before the Singapore High Court and the Singapore District Court arising out of the “99-1” Property Transactions under investigation by IRAS, pursuant to appointments by institutional insurers.

• Acted for the Land Transport Authority of Singapore in defending various personal injury claims brought before the Singapore High Court and the Singapore District Court by several lay litigants.

• Acted for several professional practices, including an architectural firm and two engineering firms, in defending various claims of professional negligence brought in the Singapore High Court and an SIAC Arbitration arising out of several construction developments and projects.

• Acted for several law firms in defending various claims of professional negligence brought against them by their respective former clients, pursuant to appointments by institutional insurers.

• Appointed by the Supreme Court of Singapore to assist the Court of Appeal as young amicus curiae in Muhammad Alif bin Ab Rahim v Public Prosecutor [2021] SGCA 106.
• Acted for the Singapore Institute of Legal Education in various regulatory matters before the Singapore High Court.
• Acted for a state-owned maritime and engineering company in proceedings under the Workplace Safety and Health Act 2006.
• Acted for a jewellery distributor in proceedings under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act 1990.
• Acted for Singapore Health Services, a state-owned Singapore group of healthcare institutions, in Committee of Inquiry and related proceedings surrounding the 27 June 2018 cyber-attack on its patient database, Singapore’s largest and most sophisticated cyber-attack at the time.

• Acted in a capital appeal before the Court of Appeal as defence counsel, pursuant to an appointment under the Legal Assistance Scheme for Capital Offences (LASCO) managed by the Supreme Court of Singapore.
• Acted in various criminal proceedings as defence counsel, pursuant to engagements under the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme (CLAS) administered by Pro Bono SG.
